Encounter After the Ruling
"...I was never very comfortable with the act of abortion itself. That made for some difficult encounters."
-Norma McCorvey, "Jane Roe"
Immediate Impact
The decision to make abortion safe and legal caused a divide among the American people. The public made labels that claimed stances on the abortion issue, and they were Pro-Life and Pro-Choice. Urgently, Pro-Life activists began to try to overturn Roe v. Wade because they believed in the previous laws. On the other hand, Pro-Choice activists began spreading their awakened cheers with the rest of America. They began to spread clinics like Planned Parenthood and other abortion-providing sites (The Case of Roe v. Wade).

"The long term impact of Roe v. Wade has been that for 43 years Americans have known the experience of living under rules that left it to individual women to make decisions about whether to continue or terminate pregnancies."
-Sarah Weddington, Lawyer for Jane Roe
Long-Term Impact
Even after the many years of controversy, America still isn’t at peace over the decision that was made. Throughout the years, people still claim the label of Pro-Life or Pro-Choice, and protests are still being held. Other more current controversies have emerged throughout the years as well. Situations in connection to Planned Parenthood and what their services truly are have come into view. Additionally, violence against abortionists have become a wider concern as well. The determination of many Americans keeps the fight alive for this ongoing debate.
